Incorporated in 1906, Coldstream was incorporated in 1906 and has a total land area of approximately 67.25 square km. The population is just above 10,000 people. The District is comprised of two neighbourhoods – Coldstream in the west and Lavington in the east, centering around Coldstream Ranch, the earliest land claim in the district.

Coldstream is located just east of Vernon BC, surrounding the North end of Kalamalka Lake and extending through the beautiful Coldstream Valley. The municipality is considered part of Greater Vernon.
